Purpose of Air Force Challenge Coins

In the Air Force there is a large amount of coins which is given to the  members of the air force on different occasions like on Bases, Aircraft, Ranks, Awards and Medals as well as US Air Force Veteran and Retirees coins. The air force challenge coins are double sided and are in the three sizes like ; 38mm, 40mm and 45mm. These air force challenge coins are also given to airmen through his command chief master sergeant. In the selection of the rank coins these coins are given to the 2nd Lieutenant through Colonel. There are also coins which are given to the members of the army on the achievements.

Basically the Air Force Challenge Coins started in the world war one. At that time there were many problems to make the shape of the coins but with the help of the all the members of the squadron gave the idea and finally the coin is ready. When we talk about the history of making the air force coins we come to know that was the solid bronze. But there is much important thing is that these challenge coins in the air force show the highest respect to that person which receives it as an award.

The coin for the air force are made of many different materials in which gold  silver bronze and some of other materials included. The most important coin is “Bull Dog” coin. This is made for the tail gunners of B-52s. This is a very rare coin.

Nowadays these coins are given to the members of the air force at the start of their basic training. The coins are also given to the widow of the servicemen of the air force which shows that the sincerity of her husband with the organization as well as with the country and his sacrifice have saved the many lives of their civilians.I hope everyone will like this post as you liked my previous post which named Military Challenge Coins,Challenge coins, navy Coins etc.
